Modification 1 Response to Submissions Released

The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) have published the Response to Submissions report for Modification 1 of the Powerhouse Museum Ultimo Revitalisation's State Significant Development Application (SSDA). 

Following public exhibition of the Modification from 17 to 30 July 2025, Infrastructure NSW prepared a response to the issues and comments raised.  

This response is now available to view on the Major Projects planning portal, alongside all other planning documentation. 

Site preparation works, which have been approved under the SSDA and are currently being carried out by contractor DECC, are continuing.

What happens next?

The next step in the planning process will involve DPHI: 

  • Assessing the merits of the Modification in accordance with legislation, plans, policies and guidelines 

  • Considering the issues raised in submissions and the applicant’s response to those issues  

  • Making a determination on the Modification   

  • Outlining any changes to the existing conditions of the development.   

The NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces will make the final determination, with the decision to be published online on the planning portal.
