Expressions of Interest invited to revitalise the Powerhouse Museum Ultimo

The delivery of a major revitalisation of the Powerhouse Museum Ultimo is one step closer with Expressions of Interest (EOI) now open to the construction industry.

This is the first stage of a competitive tender process to find a qualified and experienced builder to deliver on the NSW Government’s $250 million investment in the Powerhouse Museum Ultimo.

The EOI will close on Friday 21 June 2024. Following this, shortlisted builders will be invited to prepare a formal tender.

The EOI is running in tandem with the public exhibition of the State Significant Development Application, which shows how the heritage listed buildings will be reinvigorated and the exhibition and programming spaces transformed to an international museum standard.

Construction is expected to start once planning approval is received and a construction contract is awarded.

The budget for Powerhouse Ultimo is $300 million, with a $250 million contribution from the NSW Government and $50 million through the Powerhouse Museum’s philanthropy campaign.
