Contractors shortlisted to build Powerhouse Museum Ultimo Revitalisation
The revitalisation of Powerhouse Museum Ultimo has hit a major milestone with three contractors shortlisted to deliver the proposed design for the much-loved, iconic cultural institution.
After significant interest in the project from qualified and experienced builders, the three following contractors have been selected to tender:
- John Holland
- Lendlease
- Richard Crookes Construction
The three builders have experience delivering major cultural institutions on behalf of the NSW Government including Powerhouse Parramatta, Sydney Modern (Naala Badu) and the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, as well as Allianz Stadium. They will now be invited to submit a formal tender, and a construction contract is expected to be awarded later this year.
With a total project value of $300 million, the revitalisation is expected to support around 700 jobs during construction and over 300 direct and indirect jobs when the museum re-opens.
The design concept for the Powerhouse Museum Ultimo Revitalisation was developed by Durbach Block Jaggers Architects in partnership with Architectus, Youssofzay + Hart, and landscape architects Tyrrell Studio, who will work closely with the successful tenderer.
The project’s State Significant Development Application was on public exhibition earlier this year, and Infrastructure NSW are now preparing a Response to Submissions.
